Nightlife
Although Aix en Province is world renowned for its nightlife, there's more to the city than bars and night clubs. From June to July, Aix en Province comes alive with music. Free concerts are held throughout the city streets during June's Musique dans la Rue. For tourists interested in the city's architecture in addition to music, July features the international opera Festival d'Aix-en-Provence at the beautiful Grand Théâtre de Provence.
Shopping
You will find all the usual Provencal fabric and earthenware in Aix, as well as a wide range of olive-based products and local wines, but what the city is really famous for is its calissons, a marzipan-like confectionery made from sweet almonds and preserved fruits. They are available in most confiseries — sweet shops — in the city.
